Well, a theater group at the University of Tennessee decided to stage "Corpus Christi." The local paper ran a front page, above the fold story putatively about how it was not causing any controversy. Of course, the real purpose of putting that prominently on the front page was to incite controversy; until their story, no one had heard that the play was running. Their website (I'm not linking to it on principle) has a comments forum (with ads, of course--it's all about the revenue in the end), 85 screens long in Lynx so far, mostly full of outrage although more than one person pointed out that this was the local paper once again manufacturing news rather than reporting it. True. But the comment that made me laugh out loud was this one:
"Blasphemy! We all know Jesus did not use styling products on his hair, nor did he have nice shoes. His hair was unkempt and he wore birkenstocks. If anything, Jesus was a lesbian."
Hahahahahahaha!
